The specific combination of chromium and vanadium in Colombian deposits, particularly from the Muzo and Chivor regions, produces a vivid green with a luminosity that other sources do not replicate.

What makes one Colombian emerald woth more than another?
Color is the primary driver — specifically the combination of hue, saturation, and tone. The ideal Colombian emerald is vivid green without grey, yellow, or brown undertones. Muzo green — a pure, intense chromium-driven green — is the benchmark.
